Intel just announced its next-generation Atom processor, promising to deliver netbooks and entry-level desktops that consumes less power than existing Atom processors, and most importantly a much improved performance. Featuring integrated graphics built directly into the CPU, the N450 processor for netbooks is 60% smaller than existing Atom processors, and consumes up to 20% less power. The D410 and D510 for entry-level desktops on the other hand, are 70% smaller and a whooping 50% more energy efficient.
The Intel Atom N450 is a single core Atom processor running on 1.66GHz with 512k of L2 cache and a 7 watt total kit TDP including chipset. The D410 for entry-level desktop PCs is a single-core Atom processor with 512k of L2 cache and a 12-watt total kit TDP including chipset, and the D510 for entry-level desktop PCs is a dual core Atom processor with 1meg L2 cache and a 15-watt total kit TDP including chipset. |
